Can't complain. Just got back in from the garage. I'm almost done making a homemade sheet brake. I've got to sort out two or three last things, then paint it.  Why am I making a sheet brake? Because I can. I figure it's good welding practice, and I had the materials (except paint).

back to sobriety after falling off the wagon for the weekend

having now learnt that no...farscythe can not just have a couple beers and then stop again.....sucks...i was really hoping i’d be able to keep drinking on occasion..but it dont look likely

sooo...i guess im okay...little wiser than before...gonna have to learn to be more sociable sober

(god help us all if i find a replacement bad habbit tho...spacekadett farscythe is a big fan of mind altering substances)

Up to my neck in year-end paperwork at work. I had 2 competent people doing my position on nights and weekends, 1 quit they’re contemplating firing the other, so they’re trying to have me train 2 new people at once.

We’ve hit another patch of weather that means we have a few days of 40 centigrade temperatures during the day and mid twenties overnight...and the prospect of rain into next week. So that’s a happy payoff.

Spent an hour and 400 bucks at the dentist today to dig a stuffed amalgam fillings out of a molar and replace it with a modern one...that was fun but at least the tooth is not cracked and there's no longer any pressure pain. Good for another twenty years... hopefully!

Always a difficult time of year for me . Feeling pretty run down and with my family far away most of the time,   I keep responding by turning to my least healthy habits (my best intentions are no match for my poor willpower) . But at least I’m planning to escape the gloom for part of February with a vacation. Unless a viral epidemic derails those  plans.

There’s a continuum, or a spectrum, of peoples’ proclivity towards addiction. On a scale from 1 to 10, I place myself about 6.5. This has allowed me several different times during my life to simply decide to change. First was cigarets then, several years later, alcohol. More recently, I decided to change my eating habits and I’ve shed 30+ pounds over the past year. These were BIG changes and I needed to change accompanying habits to make them fly. I hope I don’t sound like I’m lecturing. I mean to be encouraging at the same time as realistic. I have other friends who are more of a 10.5 or 11 on that 1-to-10 scale and they need to take more drastic measures that I really have no experience with.

Tired and sore . Yesterday was the first day in a while I actually had to work my ass off, partly because a certain employee usually just does n’t show up the day after payday, and never get in shit for it....so I was doing his job, plus it was just a regular busy day. Good stuff. I’m burnt out on family get togethers, but there’s another big dinner tomorrow night with the significant other’s family. And it won’t fucking stop raining.

But hey I sold the Legacy, the V70 will be getting attention in a couple weeks, and once it stops raining I’ll start giving the Raider and/or the 144 attention.

Ive no idea where I stand on that spectrum

I had no trouble dropping drugs when I decided I was done with them..never seriously tried to quit smoking tho Im assuming that one won’t be fun for a while when I get there

Alcohol I think I’ll be fine with..I was fine not having any...but I might not be able to just have some..once I have the taste I drink to get drunk...and then I try to stay drunk

Fortunately I haven’t been drinking during the week for a couple of years now (with exceptions), and I strictly only drink beer, so it wasn’t that big a deal. Still, it’s taken willpower. Nice to establish I have that,at least.
